JT is a co-founder of Clir Capital and began his career as a Financial Advisor with Ameriprise, where he developed a financial planning business of over 120 households in only two years. During his time at Ameriprise he also obtained his designation as a Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor (CRPC). To gain access to a more open architecture platform where he could focus on managing his client’s investments, he moved his business to Wells Fargo Advisors.
Starting in 2008 the financial crisis created myriad real estate opportunities. One opportunity in particular was the practice of buying distressed real estate debt to take ownership of troubled assets. So, in 2010, he sold his business at Wells Fargo Advisors to his partner, relocated from Philadelphia to Sacramento and became a Vice President of Sales with Resource Real Estate distributing the Opportunity REIT.
In 2014, after helping raise over $600mm for Resource, JT and his wife, Jamie, learned of her first pregnancy and they moved back to Philadelphia, PA to be closer to family. After evaluation the real estate landscape and reviewing several opportunities, he became Vice President of the Northeast with SmartStop Self-Storage.
After 4 great years with Smartstop, with three successful funds and helping raise over $1B, JT was invited by Evolv Capital to be the Regional Director of the Northeast. JT was attracted to the platform due to Evolv’s alternative lineup, entrepreneurial environment, flat management structure and, most importantly, the ability to bring top institutional strategies to his clients in the retail market. JT holds his Series 7, 31 and 66 licenses.
